Alitalia is one of the oldest airlines on the European market. It has been taking flights since 1946. Alitalia literally means “The wings of Italy”. In 2009 Alitalia “regenerated” by the alliance between Air One and Alitalia. In May 1947 the first plane, having the Alitalia logo, flied from Turin to Catania and then to Rome. Also in 1947 the first international flight from Rome to Oslo was carried out. One year later the company took its first intercontinental flight from Milan to the USA. The carrier is one of the founders of Sky Team alliance.

Alitalia’s programs for loyal clients MilleMiglia is the best in the field. The airplane park amounts to more than 150 planes, with which the company services nearly 100 destinations in Italy and worldwide. The carrier covers 53 destinations in Europe, 26 –domestic and the main destinations in Asia, North and South America and Africa.

The company flies to more than 45 countries. For the passengers, who bought tickets for long distances, Alitalia offers catering and various entertainment. Thanks to satellite technology passengers have access to telephone, television, music and movies. Each seat has an individual LCD monitor. Passengers can also find Italian and international newspapers and magazines.
